The Steelers were started in 1933. when Art Rooney paid the 2500 dollar franchise fee. First they were called the Pittsburgh Pirates. During WWII they experienced player shortages. In 1943, the Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles merged to form the "Steagles." In 1944 they merged with the Chicago Cardinals. The Steelers found their long standing success after the hire of Chuck Noll in 1969. After great draft selections such as Mean Joe Greene in 1969, Terry Bradshaw and Mel Blount in 1970, jack Ham in 1971, Franco Harris in 1972. Their best draft came in 1974 where they drafted four future hall of famers, the most ever. These players were Lynn Swann, Jack Lambert, John Stallworth, and Mike Webster. The Steeler dynasty was in the later 70's, where they won four Super Bowls in six years.
